As Australia’s second oldest city (Sydney is the oldest), Hobart is steeped in history. Port Arthur, the famous colonial prison, is a popular nearby attraction. The magnificent Tasmanian wilderness is also close at hand – a visit to Mount Field National Park is a must.
	Launceston Known as the “Garden City”, Launceston has the massive and impressive Cataract Gorge – just a 15 minute walk from town. Historical tours and walks are also popular pastimes here. Devonport is close by (90km) and the “Spirit of Tasmania” (the ferry from the mainland) docks at this important gateway.
